On September 2, 2026, at approximately 11:55, I, Deputy B. Mattick, responded to a call for service. I was dispatched to 8653 Hiram Acworth Highway in reference to a business dispute.
Upon arrival, I spoke with the caller, [VICTIM #1], who stated the following: She is an employee with Mavis Discount Tires. While she was working, she was checking out a customer, Curtis Mondesir. Curtis asked why his vehicle was driven off the lot. She explained to Curtis that his vehicle had just gotten an alignment, so they were test-driving his vehicle to ensure that their work was complete. Curtis became upset and again asked where his vehicle was. She called for the service manager, [VICTIM #2], to try to explain to Curtis why his vehicle was being test-driven.
When [VICTIM #2] tried to explain, Curtis became upset and stated, “Where the fu*k is my car?” [VICTIM #2] asked Curtis to stop swearing because other customers were in the store. Curtis stated, “I don’t give a fu*k about the customers. Where is my car?” [VICTIM #2] again explained that his vehicle was being test-driven. Curtis then used his right-hand, grabbed a firearm, a Rock Island Armory 10mm M1911, serial number RIA2691777, from his left side. She described that Curtis grabbed the firearm from under his left shoulder. Curtis then pulled the slide to the rear, chambering a round. Curtis then stated, “Now where is my car?” She gave Curtis his car key and completed the transaction. Curtis then left the scene. She stated she was terrified while Curtis had his firearm out. She stated she would like to pursue charges.
I spoke with [VICTIM #2], who stated the following: He is the service manager for Mavis Discount Tire. [VICTIM #1] was working at the front counter checking out a customer, Curtis. [VICTIM #1] called for his assistance at the front counter. He arrived at the front counter and spoke with Curtis. He explained to Curtis that Mavis Tire employees were test-driving his vehicle because they performed an alignment on the tires. Curtis became upset and started swearing at him. He asked Curtis to stop swearing because there were other customers in the store. Curtis stated he did not care about the other customers and asked for his vehicle. Curtis then used his right hand and grabbed a firearm from his left side. Curtis pulled the slide to the rear, chambering a bullet. Curtis again asked for his vehicle. [VICTIM #1] gave Curtis his car keys and completed the checkout. He stated he would like to pursue charges.
I was able to view the security camera footage of the incident. I observed the following: A black male, identified as Curtis, was standing at the front counter with [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2]. Curtis then grabbed a firearm with his right hand from his left side. Curtis then placed his left arm over the firearm. Curtis had the firearm in his right hand near his waist. I then observed Curtis take his keys and then leave the store.
I spoke to one of the witnesses, [WITNESS #1], who stated the following: He was sitting near the front door when he noticed a black male, identified as Curtis, talking with the employees at the front desk. Curtis was upset that an employee had taken his vehicle for a test drive. Curtis started to swear at the employees; one of the employees tried to calm Curtis down. Curtis grabbed a pistol from his left side. Curtis kept the pistol in his hand until his vehicle was returned to him.
I spoke with the other witness, [WITNESS #2], who stated the following: She was sitting on the left side of the building. She was on her phone when she overheard a black male, identified as Curtis, yelling at the employee. She saw Curtis pull something out, but she could not see what it was. She observed the male leave the store when he got his keys back.
Deputy Heggestuen, badge number 1187, observed Curtis’ vehicle on the roadway. Deputy Heggestuen performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with Curtis. I obtained warrants for two counts of O.C.G.A. 16-5-21(a)(2), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for assaulting [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] with a deadly weapon, a firearm, when used offensively against a person, is likely to or actually does result in serious bodily injury. I also obtained a warrant for O.C.G.A. 16-11-106(b)(1), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, by having a firearm in his possession while in the commission of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
I returned to service.
