On August 30, 2026, I, Deputy Jones, was dispatched to [3300 BLOCK] Hulsey Town Road regarding theft by taking.
Upon arrival, I met with a male subject who was identified as [WITNESS #1] of [3300 BLOCK] Hulsey Town Road. [WITNESS #1] stated that on this date, while he was assisting his neighbor doing some skid steer work, two subjects approached him asking for a light for a cigarette. He obliged; however, a few moments later, he heard voices coming from the area of [3300 BLOCK] Hulsey Town Road.
This address is the abandoned home of the [WITNESS #1] Family; however, their property is still contained within the residence. [WITNESS #1], at this time, approached the area to find a silver-in-color Toyota Rav 4 backed into the driveway of his family’s residence, with a black Ford F-150, which appeared to be in the process of attempting to assist the Toyota with a mechanical issue.
However, [WITNESS #1] noticed that the residence had been entered and that the Toyota was filled with his family’s property. [WITNESS #1] at this time, took his cellphone out and began to video the subjects while confronting them. [WITNESS #1] told the subjects to return his property to the residence at this time. The subjects did as he requested, and the Ford truck dragged the Toyota out of his driveway at this time. However, as the vehicle was having mechanical issues, the subjects abandoned it on the side of Hulsey Town Road.
Deputies at this time relocated to the area to attempt contact with any possible suspects in the area. Deputies did not make contact; however, deputies were able to see a gold watch in the back seat along with a cell phone on the passenger seat. Upon running the GA state-issued license plate of the vehicle, it returned to [VICTIM #1]. Deputy Hernandez attempted to make contact with the registered owner.
While standing by Deputy Hernandez’s patrol unit, I requested he contact the number again; this time I was standing by the Toyota and was able to witness the phone on the passenger seat ring with his work phone number visible. Upon reviewing the video provided by the complainant, the registered owner was not the subject in the video.
After some time, Deputy Hernandez made contact with the Dallas Police Department to do a welfare check on [VICTIM #1]. While waiting on information from the Dallas Police Department, Sgt Martin informed me that CID would like the vehicle to be towed to the next listed wrecker yard, and to not open the vehicle. Next list wrecker was called for on this date; Moore Towing was en route at this time.
I requested Deputy Hernandez speak with [VICTIM #2] by telephone again and ask if she would like to press charges. This is due to the watch being [VICTIM #2]’s property as well as the actual residence. Deputy Hernandez confirmed that [VICTIM #2] would like to press charges at this time. Deputy Hernandez stood by with the vehicle while [WITNESS #1] and I returned to the incident location.
Upon arriving back at the incident location, I asked [WITNESS #1] to place a value on the initially stolen and then returned items. He made an approximation of $1,000.00 USD. This was due to there being three paintball guns and an R.C car having been taken and then returned. When asked if he would like to press charges, as the paintball guns and R.C car were his property, [WITNESS #1] declined. At this time, [WITNESS #1] left the scene of the incident to return to his residence, and I returned to the vehicle on Hulsey Town Road.
While wating on the tow truck, I was informed that Officer Stokes had made contact at the address of [200 BLOCK] Herman Ave. The following notes his findings:
Officer Stokes of the Dallas Police Department informed Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputies of the following.
Per Officer Stokes: “Just did the follow-up at [200 BLOCK] Herman Ave. We put eyes on [VICTIM #1], shes C4, asleep in bed.
Spoke with [WITNESS #1], the registered owner’s husband. He said that the vehicle was being driven by a white female with red hair and tattoos named Eryn Thatcher. She’s approximately 30 years old; her birthday is in either [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. They have a casual arrangement concerning that vehicle where Eryn can take it whenever she wants to go to the store.
Eryn reportedly lives at [200 BLOCK] Herman Ave full time in a room at the home. Her boyfriend’s name is [REDACTED]; he left the home a short time ago with a guy named [REDACTED]. They’re supposedly 76 to you all to take possession of that Toyota Rav4.
Eryn supposedly previously lived on Pope Ln. Eryn uses [VICTIM #1]’s cell phone (which is why, when you guys called the R/O, that phone rang from inside the vehicle)
I told [WITNESS #1] the vehicle was used in a burglary and that he would probably not get the car back, as it’s a crime scene.
They’re expecting Eryn to return home to [200 BLOCK] Herman Ave later tonight.”
At this time, Moores Towing arrived on scene to take possession of the Toyota Rav4. As I was unable to positively identify the subjects on this date, I was unable to take warrants out for the listed offenses. There was nothing further for Patrol Deputies to investigate at this location; all audio and video was recorded on the BWC of Deputy Jones 1484 and Deputy Hernandez 1314.
