On September 14, 2026, at approximately 2134 hours, I, Deputy Aaliyah Arteaga, responded to [100 BLOCK] Baywood Crossing, Hiram, GA 30141, in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, I observed a female, later identified as [VICTIM #1], with a swollen, purple, right eye. Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s eye was swollen shut with significant swelling to the surrounding area. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she and her brother, Marquis Wright, were helping their mother move boxes due to them moving out. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Wright became very agitated and punched her in the eye. She stated she did fight him back. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was checked by Metro on scene. She further stated her mother was fighting with her in the vehicle to retrieve her keys.
Deputy Robinson then spoke with the mother, [WITNESS #1], who stated she was not home during the initial interaction, but when she returned she saw her daughter with her hands in Mr. Wright’s hair, pulling it. Ms. [WITNESS #1] confirmed Ms. [VICTIM #1] did have an injury to her right eye. She denied being physical with Ms. [VICTIM #1].
I then spoke with Mr. Wright, who stated he and his sister were moving boxes in the garage and Ms. [VICTIM #1] became loud and started rushing him. Mr. Wright stated they entered the house and Ms. [VICTIM #1] grabbed a broom. He told her if she hit him he was going to “beat her a*s.” Mr. Wright stated she did not hit him with the broom, but then approached him. He pushed her and she hit him, causing him to swing a closed fist at her face, which caused a fight between the two. No injuries were observed on Mr. Wright and he declined metro.
After further investigation, I determined Mr. Wright to be the predominant aggressor. Mr. Wright was placed under arrest for Simple Battery – Family Violence O.C.G.A. 16-5-23 for pushing his sister, Aggravated Battery due to the significance of the injuries to her eye, and Terroristic Threats (M) for stating “I’ll beat your a*s.”
Mr. Wright was placed in handcuffs, which were checked for proper fit, and transported to the Paulding County Jail. Photos are attached to the Sheriff’s Office drive. A report was made and I returned back to service.
