On September 24, 2026 at approximately 1842 hours, I, Deputy Aaliyah Arteaga, responded to a dispute at 80 Seven Hills Blvd, Dallas, GA 30132.

Upon arrival, I made contact with the complainant, [VICTIM #1], who stated he was walking out of Publix with his juvenile daughter, [VICTIM #2], when a male, later identified as Steven Berry, made a comment that he was going to “take his daughter home with him.”

Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he heard the comment, turned around, and asked Mr. Berry to repeat his statement. Mr. Berry stated Mr. [VICTIM #1] could go home while he took his juvenile daughter to his house. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated it then became a verbal altercation between the two. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Berry placed his hand in his pocket and stated he would end his life with the knife that was in his pocket. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Berry continued to approach him while still reaching in his pocket and stating he was going to “gut him.” Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated he then drew his sidearm, pointed it toward the ground, and told Mr. Berry to sit down. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then called law enforcement.

I then spoke to a witness, [WITNESS #1], who stated she was exiting the nail salon located in the same complex as Publix. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she observed a distressed female and then observed two males, later identified as Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. Berry. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she heard Mr. Berry make an odd comment about taking juvenile [VICTIM #2] home. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated she was trying to make sure juvenile [VICTIM #2] was safe, and while doing so, heard Mr. Berry threaten the life of Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated while the threat was made, Mr. Berry stated he was going to do it with a knife, causing Mr. [VICTIM #1] to take out his firearm. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated Mr. [VICTIM #1] did not aim the weapon at Mr. Berry.

I then spoke to juvenile [VICTIM #2], who stated she and her dad were walking out of the store and saw Mr. Berry drinking alcohol outside of Publix. juvenile [VICTIM #2] stated she did not hear the comment made by Mr. Berry, but observed her dad put their bags down and ask Mr. Berry what he said. juvenile [VICTIM #2] stated Mr. Berry became irate and made a threat toward her father, and her father then pulled out his firearm.

Deputy Jones made contact with Mr. Berry, who stated he was dropped off by his wife and had bought a couple of beers. Mr. Berry denied making any comments to juvenile [VICTIM #2], stating he thought she was Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s wife. Mr. Berry stated he only said “just keep doing what you’re doing.” Mr. Berry stated Mr. [VICTIM #1] then took out a firearm and pointed it at him. Deputy Jones stated Mr. Berry’s statement was inconsistent and continued to change when questioned.

Mr. Berry had bloodshot, watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. An open container was located where he had been sitting at Publix.

I placed Mr. Berry under arrest for Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault x2, and Public Drunk. Handcuffs were double-locked and checked for proper fit by Deputy Jones.

Mr. Berry was also criminally trespassed from Publix and was informed of such.

Mr. Berry was taken to the Paulding County Jail. A report was made and I returned to service.
