On September 11, 2026, at approximately 12:42, I, Deputy B. Mattick, responded to a call for service. I was dispatched to [6700 BLOCK] Bill Carruth Parkway, Apt. [REDACTED], in reference to a domestic dispute.
Prior to my arrival, dispatch informed me that they heard an argument between a male and a female. They then heard a male’s voice say, you hit me, and that she has a knife. Dispatch then informed me that the male had left the scene.
Upon my arrival, I parked at the rear of the apartment complex, attempting to locate the male. I was informed by Deputy Greenway, badge number 1156, that the male was in the model home apartment. I went to that door and knocked and announced. The apartment manager stated he had a key to the door and opened the door. Officer Nowack, badge number 4724, stated that he witnessed a male in the residence. Officer Nowack called the male, later identified as [VICTIM #1], out of the residence, and he complied. I instructed [VICTIM #1] to turn around and place his hands behind his back and detained him.
I asked [VICTIM #1] what occurred today, and [VICTIM #1] stated the following: He was at his girlfriend’s, Taylor Willis, residence, which he stated that he’s been staying there off and on for approximately six months. He recently lost his job, and his car was just impounded, so he’s been staying with Taylor. He was sleeping when Taylor came into the room and woke him up. Taylor began arguing with him, telling him that he needs to do something with his life. They started to yell at each other, and Taylor was demanding that he leave the residence.
He started to gather his belongings when Taylor struck him on the left side of his face. He could not remember how Taylor struck him. He then called his mother, [WITNESS #1], on FaceTime to be a witness to the domestic dispute. He gathered his things, attempting to leave, when he noticed that Taylor grabbed a knife and had it behind her back. Taylor then pushed him with her chest, with the knife still behind her back. He grabbed his belongings and left the apartment and walked downstairs. I then removed the handcuffs from [VICTIM #1], but told him to remain on the scene.
I then spoke with Taylor at apartment [REDACTED]. Taylor stated the following: [VICTIM #1] was asleep in her children’s bedroom. She woke him up because he needed to get a job and do something with his life. They began to argue, and she told him they needed to break up. [VICTIM #1] began to get angry, and he threatened to throw a vacuum cleaner at her, so she grabbed a knife from the kitchen for her protection. [VICTIM #1] grabbed his belongings and left the apartment. She stated that nothing physical happened between them. Deputy Greenway stated that Taylor told him a different account of what occurred.
I then spoke with a witness, [WITNESS #1], who stated the following: Her son, [VICTIM #1], called her on FaceTime. She answered and heard [VICTIM #1] and Taylor arguing. She told [VICTIM #1] to leave the residence. While [VICTIM #1] was gathering his belongings, Taylor had a knife in her hand and started to walk towards [VICTIM #1]. She yelled at Taylor to stop walking and told [VICTIM #1] to leave. [WITNESS #1]’s daughter, [WITNESS #2], was with her mother when [VICTIM #1] called her and witnessed the same thing.
I asked [VICTIM #1] if he would complete a written statement, and he refused. I determined that Taylor was the predominant aggressor by posing the most serious and ongoing threat, by starting the altercation, physically assaulting [VICTIM #1], and presenting a deadly weapon during the altercation. I returned to Apartment [REDACTED] and asked Taylor if I could take a picture of the knife used during the assault, and Taylor agreed. Deputy Greenway and I entered the residence, and Deputy Greenway took pictures of the knife and attached them to the drive. Due to the knife being used in a crime, I placed the knife in an evidence bag.
I informed Taylor that she was under arrest for O.C.G.A. 16-5-21(a)(2), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for assaulting [VICTIM #1] with a deadly weapon or with any object, device, or instrument which, when used offensively against a person, is likely to or actually does result in serious bodily injury, and O.C.G.A. 16-5-23, simple battery, for striking [VICTIM #1] on the left side of his face. I secured Taylor in handcuffs, checked for proper fit, and double-locked them.
I transported Taylor to the Paulding County Detention Center without incident. Custody of Taylor was transferred to the Paulding County Jail Staff. The knife was placed into evidence. Warrants were signed by Judge Baty. I returned to service.
