On the above date and time, I, Officer Smallwood was dispatched to Apt [REDACTED] Way Up Way in the City of Clayton Georgia in reference to a domestic dispute that happened at some point on the early morning of 03/23/2025 at this location.

Upon my arrival, Officer Chapman and I went to the apartment and encountered a white male later known to be Jimmy Bruce Watts who lives at this address. I told Mr. Watts we were there in reference to a call from Rabun County Dispatch about some type of dispute that had already occurred. Mr. Watts stated that there was no dispute, and I asked him to walk to my patrol vehicle with me so we could talk. Mr. Watts had a black eye, and when I asked how he received it, he stated that he got it at a party Saturday night in South Carolina, and that was no dispute at his residence.

I called Dispatch, and was advised that the Rabun County Sheriff, Mark Gerrells had called the incident in 3rd party from a Ms. [WITNESS #1] whom had called him. I informed Dispatch that I did not have much to work with at the scene as Mr. Watts was stating he got in a fight in South Carolina.

I went back and was speaking with Mr. Watts when Dispatch notified me that Sheriff Gerrells had called back and said that the other part of this incident was inside the apartment hiding in the bathroom. As Mr. Watts heard this he dropped his head and began to stare at the ground. Sheriff Gerrells arrived about this time, and he along with myself walked with Mr. Watts back to the apartment as he gave consent to enter looking for the other part of this incident, a white female, Maura Jae Adams. Ms. Adams was found in the bedroom with severe bruising to her face. I escorted Ms. Adams outside where I spoke with her in the company of Officer S. Chapman of the Clayton Police Department.

Ms. Adams stated that she arrived at the apartment after Mr. Watts and went inside. Ms. Adams stated that she shook Mr. Watts to get him to move over so she could get into bed with him, at which time Mr. Watts began yelling at her and got up in her face. Ms. Adams stated that she punched Mr. Watts in the face, and he begin to physically attack her, and kicking her repeatedly about the face and head. Ms. Adams had a laceration over her left eye, and both eyes were swollen, and bruised badly. Ms. Adams refused to write a statement in reference to this incident.

I then spoke with Mr. Watts who stated that he remembered Ms. Adams waking him up, but he was so drunk he can not remember anything that happened other than calling his mother, Ms. [WITNESS #1].

Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated verbally, and in written statement that she went over and was trying to get Ms. Adams to go to the hospital but she refused. After a period of time she called Sheriff Gerrells because both Mr. Watts, and Ms. Adams who are boyfriend and girlfriend said that they would not tell what really happened.

Based on Ms. Adams story, and physical evidence at the time of my interaction with both Mr. Watts, and Ms. Adams. Mr. Watts was charged FVA Aggravated Battery, while Ms. Adams was charge with FVA Battery, and as Ms. Adams is under a Restraining Order, she was also charged with Violation of Civil Family Violence Order.
