On Sunday, June 28 2026 at 1628 hrs I, Cpl Eric Varner /C5, was in the area of Deans Bridge Rd and Barton Chapel Rd due to the listed black 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan (GA Tag # [REDACTED]) being seen on the flock camera at Barton Chapel Rd and Milledgeville Rd southbound. The listed vehicle was the suspect vehicle from an armed robbery which had just occurred at [1400 BLOCK] Pointe Grand Dr moments prior.

At 1638 hrs I spotted the listed vehicle south on Barton Chapel Rd approaching the traffic light for Deans Bridge Rd. I followed the vehicle waiting on additional units as the vehicle traveled down Meadowbrook Dr. The listed vehicle made a right turn onto Meadowgrove Dr at which point I initiated a traffic stop (26-132259). The vehicle came to a stop in front of [3600 BLOCK] Meadowgrove Dr at which point Deputy Andrew Acosta /S4 and Deputy Corby Mcintire /S1 arrived to assist with the felony stop. Shawn Joyner Jr. /arrested was ordered from the drivers seat of the vehicle, searched by Deputy Acosta, and detained in Deputy Acosta’s car. Gabriel Stewart /arrested was then ordered from the front passenger side seat and was searched by Deputy Mcintire and detained in Deputy Mcintire’s car.

When Deputy Mcintire searched Stewart, he located a black package labeled “cannabis flower” in his right pants pocket which contained approximately 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana. Deputy Mcintire also located 28 $20 bills in Stewart’s left pants pocket for a total of $560. Dashaun Dixon /arrested was then ordered out of the rear drivers side door of the vehicle, searched by Deputy Acosta, and detained in my patrol car. Upon searching Dixon, Deputy Acosta located 25 $20 bills in his right front pants pocket for a total of $500. Deputy Crystal Giannotti /K7 then conducted an open air sniff with her K9 who alerted to the presence of narcotics near the front drivers side door.

Upon searching the listed vehicle, in the front drivers side door panel, I located $518 which consisted of 17 $20 bills, one $10 bill, 28 $5 bills, and 28 $1 bills. Under the back of the drivers seat, in front of where Dixon was sitting, I located the listed black Glock 44 .22 cal pistol (serial # AEKE091) with extended magazine and a red grip wrap on the pistol grip. With the design of the drivers seat, the pistol could not have been placed there by pushing it from the front of the drivers seat. Under the front of the front passenger seat I located the listed black Taurus G2c (serial # ACM629071) with extended magazine. Also, near the center console of the vehicle, I located a blue bag containing an additional approximately 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana.

[VICTIM #1]/victim then arrived at my location. [VICTIM #1] had already spoken with Deputies at the original location but I requested him to come to the scene of my traffic stop to get his full story and for possible suspect identification. When [VICTIM #1] arrived, he did not go near the suspect vehicle and all located firearms were still in the vehicle where they were located for crime scene preservation.

[VICTIM #1] stated that he has known Stewart since around 7th grade and he used to live in the area but has since moved to North Carolina. [VICTIM #1] stated that he came to town for a few days to meet with old friends and planned to meet up with Stewart, near the apartments at 1400 Pointe Grand Dr, because they were going to go to the Kroger, at 3942 Harper Franklin Ave, to “troll” or “mess around” like you see on the internet. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was going to park his car at 1400 Pointe Grand Dr and ride with Stewart and his friends. [VICTIM #1] stated that the only person in the vehicle he knew the name of was Stewart, but the suspect in the rear drivers side seat, Dixon, was someone that he knew from school that Stewart had always hung out with. [VICTIM #1] stated that the driver of the vehicle, Joyner, he did not know and believes he was in a higher grade than him. [VICTIM #1] stated that he got into the rear passenger side seat of the black VW Tiguan and the suspects started asking him simple questions like “how have you been?”. [VICTIM #1] stated that Stewart then asked him what he had in his pocket referencing a bulge in [VICTIM #1]’s left front pants pocket.

[VICTIM #1] stated that he told him that it was just his wallet and and a little bit of money and they asked “how much money?”. [VICTIM #1] stated that he told them it was just a couple dollars and [VICTIM #1] Stated that that’s when they pulled the guns out. [VICTIM #1] stated that Stewart pulled a gun out first and had it in his hand, lying on the center console, pointing towards the rear of the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated that, while Stewart had the gun in his hand on the center console, Stewart asked him again “what you got in your pockets”. [VICTIM #1] stated that he refused to show them what was in his pockets at which point the suspect in the rear drivers side passenger seat, Dixon, pulled a pistol out and pointed it at [VICTIM #1]’s head. [VICTIM #1] stated that they then took everything out of his pockets and told him to get out of the car. [VICTIM #1] stated that he stalled getting out of the vehicle so that he could catch a video of them leaving which is how Deputies were able to obtain the suspect vehicle tag. The video captured by [VICTIM #1] is uploaded to Axon evidence. [VICTIM #1] also provided a written statement which was uploaded to Axon evidence.

I asked [VICTIM #1] to describe the pistol that the front passenger, Stewart, had and he stated that it was a black Taurus pistol with an extended magazine. [VICTIM #1] stated that the suspect in the rear drivers side had a black Glock with an extended mag and a red wrap around the handle. [VICTIM #1] stated that he had $1360 in his left pants pocket all in $20 bills. [VICTIM #1] stated that he had $360 in his wallet and $1000 just folded up in his pocket. [VICTIM #1] stated that Stewart took the $360 from his wallet and Dixon took the other $1000 from his pocket.

[VICTIM #1] was already familiar with Stewart so I conducted a “show up” to positively identify the driver of the suspect vehicle and the suspect in the rear drivers side seat. [VICTIM #1] sat in his car, with Deputy Acosta standing by him, when I pulled Dixon out of the rear of my patrol car. [VICTIM #1] advised Deputy Acosta that Dixon was the suspect that was in the rear drivers side of the vehicle. I then stood by [VICTIM #1] while Deputy Acosta removed Joyner from his patrol car and [VICTIM #1] confirmed that Joyner was the driver of the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated that he wanted to press charges.

I read Stewart his miranda rights warning to which he stated that he understood and wished to speak with me. Stewart claimed that they had sold a fake Glock to a subject they knew as “Jay” near the Kroger on Jimmie Dyess Pkwy for $500 and then they drove off fast because “Jay” was not happy. Stewart denied knowing anything about the pistol that was located under his seat. I read Joyner his miranda rights warning to which he stated that he understood but did not wish to speak with me. I read Dixon his miranda rights warning to which he stated that he understood but did not wish to speak with me. Stewart, Joyner, and Dixon were transported to RCJ.

Deputy Acosta contacted [REDACTED], in records, who ran a criminal history on Dixon, Joyner, and Stewart which showed that none of them were convicted felons. [REDACTED] also ran the listed Glock and the listed Taurus pistols which showed that the Glock had no record but the Taurus was listed as missing out of the Atlanta Police Department on case # 253571483.

The listed 25 $20 bills that were removed from Dixon’s pocket were turned in as evidence on property receipt # 496594. The listed 28 $20 bills that were removed from Stewart’s pocket were turned in as evidence on property receipt # 510810. Of the 17 $20 bills that were located in the drivers side door panel, next to Joyner, the listed 15 were turned in as evidence on property receipt # 496595. The total amount of $20 bills turned in as evidence is 68 which totals $1360 which is the amount reported by [VICTIM #1] to have been stolen. The listed Glock was turned in as evidence on property receipt # 496597. The listed Taurus was turned in as evidence on property receipt # 496596. The listed marijuana was turned in for destruction on property receipt # 496598. The listed vehicle was turned over to [REDACTED] /other who is the husband of the registered owner and father to Shawn Joyner Jr.

[VICTIM #1] was provided a case number and was advised that the listed money was being turned in as evidence. [VICTIM #1] was advised, per CID, that once the money is processed in he would be able to claim it at 400 Walton Way. [VICTIM #1] advised that he would be traveling back to North Carolina in the next day so he would not be able to claim it and asked if his personal friend, “[REDACTED]” or his personal friend’s mother, “[REDACTED]” could claim the money for him.

Warrants were printed at 0847 hrs on 6/29/26 by [REDACTED].
