On September 11, 2026, at approximately 1122 hours, Deputy April Coleman (205P) and Deputy Hannah Gay (205) responded to 1350 Walton Way,(Piedmont Hospital) in reference to a child abuse.
Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the complainant, [WITNESS #1], the paternal grandmother of the juvenile victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [WITNESS #1] stated that on September 10, 2026, at approximately 1930 hours, she went to visit [REDACTED] at [REDACTED], Evans, Georgia. [WITNESS #1] stated that when she arrived at [REDACTED]’s residence, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her, “Grandma, look at my back.” [WITNESS #1] stated that she observed bruising on both the left and right sides of [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s back. [WITNESS #1] stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her that her mother had lost her temper and began slapping her while she was sitting in a corner. [WITNESS #1] stated that she was unsure of what she should do at the time, so she brought [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to Piedmont Hospital on September 11, 2026, approximately 1000 hours for evaluation. [WITNESS #1] advised Deputies that [REDACTED] is [REDACTED] girlfriend. [WITNESS #1] also stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s father, [REDACTED], is currently incarcerated in the Columbia County Detention Center.
Deputies then made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that her mother told her to go outside and get her shoes. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she went outside to get the shoes and, while returning inside, her mother believed she was walking away from her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she yelled at her sister, [REDACTED], but her mother believed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was yelling and being disrespectful at her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that her mother then began “whooping” her with her bare hand while she was balled up in the corner of the room. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that her mother struck her in the back, causing the bruising on both sides of her back.
Deputies contacted DFCS and spoke with DFCS worker [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s mother Heaven Platt (suspect), who stated that she told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to go outsizde and get her shoes. The mother stated that she followed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] outside and that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was talking back and being disrespectful. The mother stated that she struck [REDACTED BY AGENCY] once in the back with her bare hand. The mother stated that while they were returning inside, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] continued talking back and being disrespectful, th [REDACTED BY AGENCY] two additional times in the back with her bare hand. The mother stated that she hit [REDACTED BY AGENCY] hard enough to break her fingernail. The mother stated that she knew she should not have hit [REDACTED BY AGENCY] that hard and said that she had “fu*ked up.”She was overwhelmed and snapped.
Deputies observed brusing to the upper left and right side of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] back that is consistent with being hit with a hand

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was placed under an in-home safety plan with her sister-in-law, [REDACTED] who resides at [REDACTED] Appling Ga. DFCS has an ongoing investigation into the incident.
