On September 2, 2026 at approximately 0900 hours, I Deputy Wallace was contacted by Assistant Principal [WITNESS #1] to meet with him in Principal Dr. [REDACTED]’s office. This was in reference to a student bringing a knife onto the property of the Spalding County High School located at 433 Wilson Road Griffin, Georgia 30224. This lead to the arrest of the student.
Upon entering into Principal Dr. [REDACTED]’s office, I was informed that Principal Secretary [REDACTED] was at the student driver’s entrance at the front of the Spalding County High School. Johanna Danielle Cowles entered into the High School through the front entrance. Johanna walked through the metal detectors. The metal detectors altered that metal was detected as Johanna walked through them. Johanna was called over by [REDACTED] for a more detailed search of Johanna’s person and bags.
[REDACTED] was conducting an Administration search of the bags. During this search I was not present. Johanna was then escorted into the front offices of the Spalding County High School. Assistant Principal [WITNESS #1] contacted Johana’s dad to inform him of the events at the school today involving his daughter.
I entered into the office of [REDACTED], where Johanna was located, I activated my county issued body camera and made contact with Johanna. Johanna was placed under arrest for bringing the knife onto the property of the Spalding County High School. I spoke with Johanna’s dad via cell phone. Johanna wished to leave all of her personal property at the school for her dad to pick up at a later time.
Johanna was handcuffed on both of her wrists, in front of her body, checked for proper fit, and double locked. Johanna was then advised to sit down and calm down. Johanna sustained a panic attack when the knife was discovered. Johanna was checked and treated by the school nurse.
Once Johanna was able to regather her composure and calmed down, she was escorted to my patrol vehicle for transportation to the Spalding County Detention Center. I cleared the rear compartment of my assigned patrol vehicle prior to and after transport.
Johanna was then secured in the back seat of my patrol vehicle. I notified dispatch of my beginning mileage prior to and upon arrival at the detention center.
Upon arrival at the detention center, I entered into the Sally Port. I secured my duty weapons in the front seat of my patrol vehicle and secured the doors. I then had Johanna to exit out of the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. Johanna was then escorted inside of the detention center and turned over to detention deputies on duty.
I then exited out of the Sally Port and entered into the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office to place the evidence (knife) into an evidence locker. The black and silver in color Mikov Predator folding blade was secured in a clear plastic evidence bag. I then placed the evidence bag containing the knife into an evidence locker.
I contacted the Spalding County Magistrate Court and spoke with Judge Brooks in regards to the charge of this event. I was asked if there was any ill intent on the knife being brought into the school. I responded by advising I did not believe any ill intent existed. Judge Brooks informed me to charge Johanna was Disorderly Conduct.
I contacted Spalding County Magistrate Court in reference to obtaining warrant number 26-EW-005034. The warrant was issued to charge Johanna with disorderly conduct. The warrant was issued by Judge Brooks.
