On 03/20/2026 1134 hours, I, Deputy Hudson responded non emergency to a pick up property call at [400 BLOCK] Mud Bridge Rd.
Upon arrival, I made contact with Ms. [VICTIM #1] (WF DOB/2002) who stated that she just wanted to get her property back from Mr. Luke Cruse (WM DOB /1995). Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was leaving Mr. Cruse because he is physically abusive towards her.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] then lifted her arms and showed me bruises that were located on the back of her upper arms and bruises on her lower arms. When I asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] when Mr. Cruse put the bruises on her, she stated that he grabbed her on 03/17/2026 and then put her in a choke hold on 03/18/2026. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. Cruse had gotten mad at her because she didn’t do her chores the way Mr. Cruse wanted it done.
When Mr. Cruse arrived on scene, he got out of the car and stated to Ms. [VICTIM #1] “I can not believe you called them. Can you tell them I didn’t choke you. Why did you do this”. When I spoke with Mr. Cruse, he stated that he and Ms. [VICTIM #1] had been arguing all week.
Mr. Cruse stated that he never gets physical with her because he loves her. When I asked Mr. Cruse again if he had gotten physical with Ms. [VICTIM #1], he stated that he may have grabbed her by her arms. Mr. Cruse then stated, he did grab her by her upper arms on 03/17/2026 to pull her close to him so he could kiss her. When I asked Mr. Cruse if he put Ms. [VICTIM #1] in a choke hold on 03/18/2026, he stated that he didn’t because he loves her. Mr. Cruse then stated that he does get angry when she doesn’t do her chores the correct way. When I asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] if she had trouble breathing when Mr. Cruse put her in a choke hold, she stated yes.
Due to the bruises located on Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s arms and her testimonial evidence, Mr. Cruse was properly secured in handcuffs, double locked and checked for proper fit. Mr. Cruse was then secured in the right rear seat of my patrol vehicle and transported to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, where he was turned over to the jail staff. When I observed Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s neck, I did not observe any marks or injuries.
Mr. Cruse was charged with the following charges:
Aggravated assault strangulation (warrant number 26-EW-002306)
Battery family violence (warrant number 26-EW-002307)
I returned to duty.
