On February 14th , 2024 I, Deputy H Dix responded to 1851 North Expressway Griffin, Ga 30223 in emergency mode in reference to a pedestrian getting hit by a vehicle.
When I arrived at this location, I made contact with the male victim, [VICTIM #1] (W/M /1973) laying on the roadway yelling in pain. Myself and Sgt. J fuller started communicating with [VICTIM #1] to try to keep him calm until EMS arrived on scene. [VICTIM #1] stated that his left arm was hurting severely along with his hip area. While awaiting EMS, myself nor Sgt. J Fuller could not smell any odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath while he was yelling in pain. [VICTIM #1] stated an individual by the name of Timothy Johnson (W/M /1964) saw him walking along North Expressway and intentionally swerved his vehicle (2023 Chevy Camaro tag# [REDACTED]) in the direction of [VICTIM #1] to purposely hit him with his vehicle due to the fact that Timothy did not like [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that Timothy left the scene after hitting him with his vehicle.
While still waiting on EMS to arrive, Timothy pulled back up to the scene in a different vehicle (2007 Dodge Durango Tag# [REDACTED]). EMS arrived shortly after Timothy arrived back on scene. After EMS took over [VICTIM #1], I went to Timothy to get his statement. Timothy advised that he was driving South bound on North expressway when he saw [VICTIM #1]. Timothy stated that when he saw [VICTIM #1], [VICTIM #1] made a motion with his hand that looked like a firearm. Timothy stated that when he saw the motion, he swerved to hit [VICTIM #1]. At that time, I detained Timothy by placing my handcuffs to the back of him, checking for proper fit, and double locking the cuffs. After placing my handcuffs on Timothy, I placed him in the back of my patrol vehicle (#1506) until I got statements from witnesses.
I spoke with the first witness [WITNESS #1] (B/M /1966). [WITNESS #1] stated he was driving northbound on North Expressway and saw the accident happen. [WITNESS #1] stated he saw [VICTIM #1] make some kind of motion with his body, and thats when the vehicle swerved over to hit [VICTIM #1]. The second witness, [WITNESS #2] (W/F /1986) stated she was walking with [VICTIM #1] on North Expressway. [WITNESS #2] stated that her and [VICTIM #1] were walking a distance apart when she heard the vehicle hit [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] advised me that him and Timothy did not like each other due to the [WITNESS #2] subject. [VICTIM #1] stated that [WITNESS #2] used to be involved with Timothy, and that he did not like the fact that him and [WITNESS #2] were involved with each other now. [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #2] both stated that Timothy has made threats to both of them in the past.
Georgia State Patrol then arrived to work the accident. Sergeant G Smith (Badge # 131) stated he observed the tire marks on the curve, and they coincided with the damage to the vehicle from where the vehicle left the roadway and struck the curve.
EMS escorted [VICTIM #1] to a landing area for the life flight where he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for his injuries. After EMS left the scene, Crime Scene Investigator Deputy B Jones (Badge # 801) arrived at the scene to take pictures to be submitted into evidence. Deputy J Crumpler (badge # 219) located the vehicle that was used to hit [VICTIM #1] at [100 BLOCK] Chapleau Ln Griffin, Ga 30223, and held the vehicle until crime scene could get to it. There was damage to Timothy’s vehicle on the passenger side mirror. There was a small amount of blood by the passenger side mirror. There was also damage to the back bumper where the vehicle hit the curve.
After speaking with the witnesses and the victim, Deputy T Ray (Badge # 229) got Timothy out of my patrol unit to search him for any weapons or contraband. Timothy had his wallet, and stated to Deputy Ray that he had pills in his wallet. Before searching Timothys wallet, I assisted Sgt. J Fuller with the tow inventory sheet for the vehicle that Timothy drove back to the scene. While inventoring Timothy’s vehicle, because at this time, Timothy was under arrest, I located a white pill that was imprinted with “M366” that was identified as a Schedule 2 Narcotic (Hydrocodone). I secured the pill and submitted into evidence to be submitted for testing.
After finishing the tow inventory, I walked back to my patrol vehicle to attempt to locate the pills that Timothy stated was in his wallet. I took Timothy’s wallet to the back of my patrol vehicle to check for the pills. I located a plastic halloween bag inside of Timothys wallet that contained several pills. I placed the halloween bag into evidence to be submitted for further testing to identify them.
After locating the pills inside of Timothys wallet, I transported Timothy to the Spalding County Jail where he was turned over to Detention staff without incident. After taking Timothy to the jail, I went back to the office where I met Sgt. J fuller so we could identify the pills inside of Timothy’s wallet. There were two white pills imprinted with “I58” that was identified as Sildenafil. There were three orange circle pills imprinted with “30 LCI” that were identified as Amphetamin. There were three teal pills that were indentified as Sildenafil. There were six oval orange pills imprinted with “Y19” that were identified as Alprazolam. All of the pills were submitted to be tested for proper identification.
I applied for and obtained warrants out of Timothy through the Magistrate Court for Aggravated Assault (24-EW-001534), Hit and run (24-EW-001535), VGCSA drugs original container (24-EW-001536), Possession of Amphetamine (24-EW-001537), VGCSA possession (24-EW-001538), VGCSA possession (24-EW-001539).
All pictures and contraband have been submitted at this time. My patrol vehicle was searched for any contraband before and after Timothy was in it. No contraband was found. Timothy’s vehicle that he drove back to the accident scene was turned over to First Rate Towing. The seatbelt was not placed around Timothy in the patrol vehicle due to his size
