On 07/09/2025 at approximately 1615 hours, I responded in emergency mode with lights and sirens activated to 327 W Taylor St (Regions Bank) in reference to an armed robbery in progress.
I met with bank employee identified as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated an unidentified male entered the bank and walked quickly to the cash line. [VICTIM #1] stated he said hello and the male held a note up to the teller window. [VICTIM #1] stated he told the male that he is unable to read the note due to the way he’s holding it. [VICTIM #1] stated the male readjusted the note against the window, and [VICTIM #1] was then able to read it.
[VICTIM #1] stated the note said something along the lines of, “Give me 5 straps of 20s. I have gun.” [VICTIM #1] stated he pretended to not be able to read the note still. [VICTIM #1] stated the male mentioned or refers to his gun again. [VICTIM #1] stated this is when he acknowledged the note by unlocking the drawer and told the male he does not have that amount of money. [VICTIM #1] stated the male told him to check the bottom drawer, so he unlocked that drawer proving not having enough cash again.
[VICTIM #1] stated at this time he messaged the work group chat that they are being robbed. [VICTIM #1] stated he attempted to stall for more time by stating to the male that he would have to go to the back to get the cash. [VICTIM #1] stated the male asked if he was going to set off the silent alarm. [VICTIM #1] stated he did not respond. [VICTIM #1] stated the male turns around and looks at another employee. [VICTIM #1] stated the male turns and walks to exit the bank.
[VICTIM #1] described the male as an older white male with white hair. [VICTIM #1] stated the white male was wearing aviator style glasses, a brimmed hat, and a medical grade mask typically worn in hospitals.
Bank employee identified as [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] was dealing with a customer when he sent a message in the work group chat that the bank is being robbed. [WITNESS #1] stated she looked up and saw a white male in a jacket and mask. [WITNESS #1] stated she immediately hit the panic button.
CID (Inv. Carnegie) was on scene at Regions Bank and obtained Victim/Witness statement forms from all involved parties.
During the initial investigation, multiple officers searched nearby areas for the white male fitting the description given by employees.
This case was turned over to CID for futher investigation.
