On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 1243 hours, Officer Macdonnell, Officer Yarborough, and I, Officer Hall, responded to 15298 US Highway 19 South (Dollar Tree) in reference to a disturbance. Prior to my arrival, all camera systems were activated.
Officers were advised that a disturbance had occurred between two subjects, later identified as Daeyon Davis and [VICTIM #1]. Dispatch further advised that Davis was reportedly armed with a knife and was attempting to fight [VICTIM #1].
Upon arrival, Officer Macdonnell and I made contact with employees, who directed us to the rear of the store. We located Davis and, based on the information available at that time, placed him in handcuffs behind his back for officer safety. Davis was advised that he was being detained while the investigation was conducted.
Once the scene was secure, Officer Macdonnell and I spoke with Davis while Officer Yarborough interviewed [VICTIM #1] separately. Davis stated that he and [VICTIM #1] became involved in an argument while unloading a truck. Davis said [VICTIM #1] was unloading boxes too quickly, and when Davis told him to push the boxes back, [VICTIM #1] grunted at him. Davis stated that they then began exchanging words.
I then spoke with a witness, identified as [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated that he, Davis, and [VICTIM #1] were unloading the truck when [VICTIM #1] slammed several boxes down because the rollers had not been properly secured, causing the boxes to fall. [WITNESS #1] stated that Davis and [VICTIM #1] began arguing, after which Davis entered the truck, retrieved a box cutter, and threatened [VICTIM #1]. When asked what he meant by “threatened,” [WITNESS #1] stated that Davis told [VICTIM #1], “Let’s run through it,” which he interpreted as fighting words.
[WITNESS #1] further stated that [VICTIM #1] walked outside and Davis followed him, attempting to swing at him. [WITNESS #1] advised that [VICTIM #1] grabbed Davis and pinned him to the ground. [WITNESS #1] stated that Davis was the primary aggressor during the incident. [WITNESS #1] also stated that Davis entered the rear of [VICTIM #1]’s trailer and began damaging property inside.
Based on the investigation and the statements obtained, Davis was placed under arrest for City Ordinance (Creating a Disturbance). Officer Yarborough transported Davis to the Thomas County Jail, where I later arrived and issued him a General Enforcement (GE) citation. At the request of Dollar Tree staff, Davis was also formally trespassed from the property and advised of the trespass notice.
