I was dispatched to the listed address in reference to an assault. Myself and Deputy Patlan and Deputy Williams arrived at the scene and was met outside by [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] said that James Thompson had walked over to her house from his house across the street.

[VICTIM #1] said that she asked Thompson what was he doing here. According to [VICTIM #1], Thompson said that he had just walked over. [VICTIM #1] asked Thompson why did he put his mom in danger for having to come pick him up earlier. (Deputy Williams had made a traffic stop on Thompson on this date at 1921 hours on Old Normantown Rd. and charged him with driving on suspended license. Thompson called his mother who can’t see very good according to [VICTIM #1] to come and drive him from the traffic stop location.)

[VICTIM #1] said that Thompson got mad that she asked him that and reached up and grabbed her by the throat and began choking her. [VICTIM #1] told me that Thompson knocked her to the ground and kept choking her. [VICTIM #1] then said that she thought that she was going to pass out. [VICTIM #1] then said that Thompson let go of her throat and then punched her in the forehead with a closed fist. [VICTIM #1] had a good sized knot on her forehead that was very red and marks on her throat from being choked.

EMS was called and responded to the scene and checked out [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] did not want to be transported to the hospital. I notified Investigator Luke and advised him of the choking incident. Luke called a member with The Refuge to see about getting [VICTIM #1] examined for the choking. Pictures were taken of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries and are downloaded to this report. Thompson left the scene and the area before law enforcement arrived.

Warrants were applied for on 3/2/23 and signed by Judge McMillian on the same date.

Deputy Williams located Thompson at his residence a short time later and took him in custody and transported him to the Toombs Co. jail without incident.
