On April 28, 2024, at approximately 5:24am, I, Sgt. S. Howard, was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Scott Drive Vidalia, Georgia in reference to shots fired. While enroute to the location, I would be advised that there was subject located at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Scott Drive with a GSW, gunshot wound.
Upon my arrival, I would observe Ofc. S. Davis and Ofc. M. Roberts, who arrived shortly before me, already tending to the wounded subject that was laying in the doorway of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Scott Drive Vidalia, Georgia. I would then run to assist Ofc. S. Davis and Ofc. M. Roberts in assisting the wound subject. The subject would then be identified to be Mr. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [VICTIM #1].
While addressing Mr. [VICTIM #1]’ wounds, I would observe a gunshot wound, what I believed to be the entry point, located on the right side of his back just below his ribcage. I would further observe the subject was bleeding from the back of his head. I further observed a female with a stethoscope round her neck supporting Mr. [VICTIM #1] head and applying pressure while we continued to check Mr. [VICTIM #1] for additional wounds on his body. Once we determined no more wounds were on Mr. [VICTIM #1]’ back, we then laid Mr. [VICTIM #1] back on his back and observed another bullet hole located on the right portion of his abdomen.
Ofc. S. Davis would continue to apply pressure as Ofc. M. Roberts would support Mr. [VICTIM #1] legs in a fashion to keep him from going to shock. We would continue to monitor and speak to Mr. [VICTIM #1] about the incident until EMS arrived and took over the care of Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] then made a comment about his cell phone. When I asked where the cell phone was, a black male that was in the residence gave me Mr. [VICTIM #1] cell phone. The cell phone was then secured in the trunk of my vehicle for safe keeping while Mr. [VICTIM #1] wounds was being tended to.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] would advise us that he was shot while at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Scott Drive Vidalia, Georgia and the person who shot him was a Tayvion Corbett.
Once EMS took over care of Mr. [VICTIM #1], I then left the residence to go to the vehicle that Mr. [VICTIM #1] was in when he was shot. I also sent both Ofc. S. Davis and Ofc. M. Roberts to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Scott Drive to locate the crime scene. I then observed a white in color Nissan Altima (GA Temp. Tag: [REDACTED]) with multiple bullet holes in the rear of the vehicle. I observed a total of eight bullet strikes on the vehicle.
I observed one bullet grazing the hood of the car, three went through the rear windshield and four struck the trunk of the Nissan Altima. I then observed the driver’s side window rolled down and then peered inside of the vehicle to see the damage. I observed a small blood pool in the driver’s seat. I further observed in the driver’s seat had a bullet hole in the lumbar support area of the driver’s seat and a bullet hole in the middle of the headrest of the driver’s seat.
After taking note of Mr. [VICTIM #1]’ vehicle and making the necessary calls to investigators and admin staff about the incident, I then briefly spoke with the residents that were inside the house assisting Mr. [VICTIM #1].
The subjects were identified to be Ms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED] and Mr. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED]. Ms. [REDACTED] advised me that she had been woken up to the sound of banging on her door which caused her dog to bark. Ms. [REDACTED] advised me that she then woke up Mr. [REDACTED] about the situation. Mr. [REDACTED] advised me that he collected his pistol and went to investigate due to how early it was and how aggressive the beating on the door was. Mr. [REDACTED] advised me that he did look outside and see a vehicle parked in his driveway. Mr. [REDACTED] stated he opened the door and saw Mr. [VICTIM #1] bleeding. Mr. [REDACTED], who was familiar with Mr. [VICTIM #1], called for Ms. [REDACTED] and advised her of the situation.
Ms. [REDACTED] advised me she then began to assist Mr. [VICTIM #1] since she was an ER Nurse that worked at Meadows Memorial Hospital. Mr. [REDACTED] advised me that he did get inside Mr. [VICTIM #1]’ vehicle briefly once Ms. [REDACTED] began helping Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [REDACTED] stated he moved the vehicle so the ambulance could have easier access to the residence due to-the driveway being surrounded by a ditch and the house being further away from the road.
Due to it being the end of shift, my body camera would die before I could interview Ms. [REDACTED] and Mr. [REDACTED].
With the assistance of Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, a crime scene was set up around the front porch of the residence of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Scott Drive and around Mr. [VICTIM #1] vehicle. I would remain on scene until I was relieved by Toombs County Investigators and Capt. R. Calloway, CID Investigator from Vidalia Police Department.
