On 03/22/2023, I Cpl. David Williamson/191 was dispatched to East First Street in front of Checkers for a possible fight in the middle of the roadway. Upon arrival, I observed two black males face to face shouting obscenities at each other. I attempted to get the two apart but both were highly agitated with each other and would not calm down. Finally after being threatened with arrest, both parties separated. Upon arrival of other units, the scene began to calm down.

While I was talking to subject/Jordan, it was learned that the altercation had started at McDonalds when subject/Hurston came up to the vehicle that subject/Jordan was driving and had subject/Hurston’s girlfriend in along with his child. Also in the vehicle was Jordan’s child in which the female in the car was also the mother of. The female identified as [WITNESS #1] had a child by both men and was pregnant with Hurston’s child.

An argument ensued and as Jordan drove away from Hurston, Hurston began to follow. Hurston was very irate and passed Jordon and [WITNESS #1] on East First Street. Hurston then pulled directly in front of the vehicle which Jordan was driving and slammed on brakes. Jordan was able to stop but the vehicles did make contact with one another. Subsequently both vehicles belong to Hurston. There was no damage but the abrupt maneuver by Hurston was extremely dangerous putting the two small children in danger. The male child is 3 years old and the female child is nine months old.

Once the stories were consistent from all three people, I made the determination to arrest Hurston for reckless driving and two counts of cruelty to children. A check of Jordan’s driver’s license revealed he was not licensed and he was arrested for no driver’s license. Jordan was taken to the Vidalia Police Department before being issued a traffic citation, fingerprinted and released.

Hurston was transported to the Toombs County Detention Center by Cpl. Christopher Morgan/310 and held for warrants. [WITNESS #1] drove one vehicle away while the vehicle Hurston was driving was turned over to Hurston’s brother at his request. There was no damage from the vehicles colliding and Hurston did not want a crash report.
