On October 4, 2026, at approximately 11:40 A.M I Sergeant Roberts responded to a call located at 1 Meadows Prkwy Vidalia Toombs County GA 30474 also known as Meadows Memorial Hospital regarding an assault.
Upon my arrival I was directed by the nurse’s station to room 6. Once I entered the room I met [WITNESS #1] and Juvenile [JUVENILE #1]. I turned my attention to Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] and spoke with him about vide games and how old he is and what school he attends to. So I could relieve some of the tension he was possibly feeling. I asked the mom to step out the room to speak with me in private.
I spoke with Mrs. [WITNESS #1] and she stated that the roommate that they had named Willam Gwin, had struck her son in the stomach on 10/03/2026. Mrs. [WITNESS #1] stated that she was unaware until the morning of 10/04/2026 which she took Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] to the hospital due to him throwing up and not being able to eat.
I reentered the room and spoke with Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] with his mom present and asked him who had struck him. Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] stated his name is William and they live with him. I asked what made him punch him in the stomach. Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] stated he did not know that he was finishing his pizza at a neighbors house that he was invited to and went to throw the trash away. When he got to the trash can William approached him and scanned the room as if to make sure no one could see and struck him in the stomach. Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] stated that it hurt when he was struck to where he doubled over and grabbed his stomach.
After the hit Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] went home and stated he cried and threw up or vomited. Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] stated he has not eaten since the hit due to his stomach hurting and told his mom today when he woke up still in pain. After gathering all information from the family that had heard the story I went to [REDACTED].
Upon my arrival I knocked on the door and William Gwin answered the door. I advised him to step out to speak with me. Mr. Gwin wanted to know what I needed to speak to him about. I advised him again step outside and I will tell you. Once Mr. Gwin stepped out I advised him to turn around and placed his hands behind his back. Mr. Gwin was detained until we finished interviewing him at the police station.
While at the house an individual who identified herself as [REDACTED] the grandmother of William Gwin asked what was going on I advised her of what we were at her residence for. Upon hearing our reasoning Mrs. [REDACTED] stated that she just spoke to Mr. Gwin about hitting little kids and that he doesn’t know his own strength. Mrs. [REDACTED] would continue and state that Mr. Gwin told her that he did not realize that he was hitting Juvenile [JUVENILE #1] that hard.
After Mr. Gwin was transported by Corporal Wickstrom to the Police Department, Lt. Coursey asked to have Mr. Gwin placed in interview room 2 so she could speak with him. Due to the power going out in the Police Department we had to continue the interview room recording on Corporal Wickstrom’s body camera. My Axon body camera was active during this incident. Lt. Coursey has taken over this incident and stated she will be taking warrants out for Cruelty to Children 2nd degree.
