On 05/13/2026 I, Officer D. Jordan was dispatched to 1004 E Franklin St (EZ Corner East) to make contact with a complainant in reference to a hit and run.
Upon my arrival I made contact with [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] who were occupying a red in color Ford Explorer. While speaking with them they advised there was a white truck pulling a camper that was trying to run them off the road and hit their car. [VICTIM #1] advised they were driving on the inside lane and the truck was in the outside lane when the truck kept getting in their lane more and more and until finally colliding with their car with the camper he was pulling.
[VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] advised this incident began when they were leaving KFC/Taco Bell 501 E Franklin St. They explained when they left, they were eastbound on Franklin St headed back home and the truck was approaching them quickly from behind and started honking the horn at them. They advised they continued driving as normal and the truck went around them in the other lane. They further advised that when the truck went around them is when things escalated into the truck trying to push them out of their lane resulting in them being struck by the camper.
While further speaking with [VICTIM #2] she further advised their sons [VICTIM #3] and [VICTIM #4] were in the vehicle as well. [VICTIM #2] advised [VICTIM #3] was sitting on the passenger rear of the vehicle directly behind the passenger front seat and [VICTIM #4] was seated in the driver rear seat directly behind the driver seat.
Once [VICTIM #2] advised their children were also present during this incident she further advised their son [VICTIM #3] hit his face on the window during the collision. I looked at [VICTIM #3]’s face and noticed a clear red mark with what also appeared to be slight bruising on his face. The mark on [VICTIM #3]’s face was on the right side just beneath the right eye. [VICTIM #1] advised they pulled over at the EZ Corner and called E-911 after their vehicle was struck.
I examined their vehicle for the damages and to make sure the damages correlated to the information they had given me. The damages consisted of dents and paint scuffs on the front passenger side bumper, fender panel, and door which supports their claim of being on the inside lane on the roadway. [VICTIM #1] also provided a picture of the camper which was white and black in color which also supports their information as the damages showed white and black paint scuffs.
After observing the vehicle, I received their information and was advised a Poulan Police Dept. Officer has the vehicle pulled over at this time on Ga Hwy 520 at the Sumner City limits. Once I finished getting their information I went en route to the Poulan Unit.
When I arrived on scene with the Poulan Unit on US Hwy 520 at the Sumner City Limits I approached the driver of the truck. When I approached the driver, I observed that the driver side rear (left rear) exhibited damages bieng a dent and red paint scuffs. This observation was evidence that this driver was involved in this collision and failed to remain at the scene of the collision.
At this time, I placed the driver Identified as Armando Torres under arrest. I placed Torres’s hands behind his back, double locked the cuffs, and checked for proper fit then escorted him to my patrol car and seated him on the passenger rear side. I advised E-911 to send the next wrecker on list to retrieve the vehicle and camper. Officer W. Cochran stood by on scene with the vehicle awaiting ABC Wrecker Service and I transported Torres to the Sylvester Police Dept.
Once I arrived at the Sylvester Police Dept. (SPD) with Torres, I fingerprinted him and placed him in the holding cell while I took warrants against him. While at the SPD Torres advised he did not see the car and did not know that he hit them. Due to the evidence provided on scene from both vehicles it was apparent that the significance of the damage to the Ford Explorer would have been felt by both vehicles. Further, the testimony given by the [VICTIM #1]’s being identical to my observations and injury on [VICTIM #3]’s face also stood as evidence to this incident.
Torres is charged with Aggressive Driving and Hit and Run. Torres was later transported to the Turner County Jail for housing and released into their custody.
