On April 16, 2024 I Deputy T. Greene responded to a domestic dispute at the Turner, Tift County Line on I75 NB. Upon my arrival I made contact with two subjects, Marcus Wright, and [VICTIM #1]. The two both appeared to have been upset and still arguing. I separated the Wright and [VICTIM #1] and began questioning Wight as to what happened. Wright was hesitant to explain what started the argument but then advised me that it was about him cheating. He then advised me that nothing between the two was ever physical, they just had a verbal altercation.
I made my way to [VICTIM #1] who advised me that Wright attempted to wreck the car by jumping over [VICTIM #1] into the drivers seat and hitting the brake while they were traveling down I75. [VICTIM #1] went on to say that he then attempted to force the vehicle into park as they were still traveling at a high rate of speed.
[VICTIM #1] was able to safely pull the vehicle over to the side of the road inside Turner County. [VICTIM #1] stated the entirety of the incident occurred in Tift County. It originated at an unknown residence, then continued with the route to Ashburn. At that time, I stopped interviewing both subjects and advised dispatch to have Tift County EnRoute. Tift County Deputies arrived on scene a while later and began interviewing [VICTIM #1] and Wright. [VICTIM #1] allegedly changed her story and stated Wright attempted to take the phone from her while she was parked on the side of the road just inside of Turner County. While the incident was a continuance from Tift into Turner, Tift opted not to pursue charges for Wright trying to wreck the vehicle.
Lt. Partain interviewed Wight himself at which time Wright admitted to exiting the vehicle while it was parked and took the phone from [VICTIM #1]. Wright stated he did not know she was on the phone with 911. Due to the existing circumstances, I deemed it necessary to arrest Wright for Interference with a 911 call being that it would not be safe for either party to leave the scene together in the same vehicle. Wright was placed under arrest, handcuffed to the rear, cuffs checked for fit and double locked. Wright was searched incident to arrest and secured in the rear of my vehicle. I transported Wright to the Turner County Jail where he was turned over to jail staff pending warrants.
[VICTIM #1] did not possess a valid drivers license and was allowed to call someone to pick her up roadside. Deputy Busbin stood by with [VICTIM #1] until a family member arrived.
Warrants Pending.
