On May 11th, 2025 around 07:48 I, Deputy E. Parker, was patrolling the area of Highway 80 near Riggins Mill Road when I noticed a baby blue Chevrolet Camaro moving at a high rate of speed. I checked the vehicle at 72 miles per hour (MPH) in a 55 MPH zone and activated my blue lights as the vehicle passed me. I noticed the Camaro also had a brake light out as I was turning around on the vehicle which appeared to be braking as it went around the curve.
I attempted to catch up to the Camaro, but when I rounded the curve the vehicle was out of sight. I announced over the radio what was taking place and that the vehicle not stopping. I continued driving East on Highway 80 to Myricks Mill Road and did not see the vehicle. I heard one of the patrol deputies call over the radio that the car had not come into the city.
I turned around and began driving West on Highway 80 when I noticed skid marks going off of the road into the woods. I turned around and exited my patrol car and followed the skids marks into the woods where I found the Camaro that had run from me, I called out over the radio what I had found. Lt. Mullis and Dep. Black arrived on scene and the vehicle was cleared and the two of them went to go look for the driver walking on Highway 80. A short time later I heard Dep. Black and Lt. Mullis get out with a female walking on Highway 80.
I stood by with the vehicle. A short time later I was advised the Renita Clay had admitted to crashing the car while running from me. The vehicle was turned over to Browns Wrecker Service along with a vehicle inventory sheet minus a check of the trunk due to not being able to gain access.
