On Tuesday, 6/30/26, at approximately 0019 hours, I, Sgt. Golden, along with Deputy Madden, were dispatched to [REDACTED], in reference to a domestic between an uncle and 15 year old nephew.
We arrived on scene and made contact with Ms. [REDACTED], the mother of the 15 year old boy (Juvenile 1), who stated she was told by her son that his uncle, Mr. Terrance Ates, put his hands on him because he thought that Juvenile 1 took his phone.
When we went inside the residence Mr. Ates was in the kitchen and when asked what happened he stated that if “they” took his stuff he was going to take theirs, that he had to teach them a lesson. I went outside and looked around on the porch and found Mr. Ates’ phone on the arm of a rocking chair, it was returned back to Mr. Ates.
At this point everyones belongings were returned to them, and Deputy Madden and I went outside to get the rest of the information needed on Juvenile 1, and when we did we were told about another incident that happened earlier in the night. This incident involved the stepson of Mr. Ates (Juvenile 2) and Mr. Ates. The allegation was confirmed by the mother of Juvenile 2, as well as Mr. Ates. Mr. Ates was placed under arrest at this time.
Mr. Ates was transported to the Twiggs Co. Jail and will be processed. Warrants will be taken out on Mr. Ates for Battery Family Violence, Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree, and Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree.
