On 8-18-2026 while patrolling the listed area, I observed the listed vehicle driving with no headlights at which time I initiated a traffic stop.
Once the vehicle was stopped, I made contact with the driver and advised him of the reason for the stop. I then asked the driver for his drivers license at which time he advised that he did not have a drivers license, only a permit and that he did not have it on him. While speaking with the driver, I noticed that he nor the passenger were wearing their seatbelts. I could also smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle, at which time I asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, to which he complied.
Once out of the vehicle, I asked the driver where they were coming from and where they were going and he advised the group had just left from camping and were going to a friends house. While speaking with him, I could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath, at which time I asked him if he had had anything to drink tonight and he said no.
I then removed the remaining occupants from the vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, I asked for consent to search the vehicle and consent was granted. While searching the front passenger area, I discovered a pistol barely tucked under the front seat, at which time I asked the group who the pistol belonged to and no one claimed it, at which time the search continued with no further contraband discovered.
I then removed the listed female subject from the group and asked her if she knew who’s pistol was in the vehicle and she stated no. The listed other was then removed from the group and asked about the pistol and she stated that the pistol belonged to the listed female suspect. She stated that as soon as I initiated the traffic stop the female removed the gun from her bag and placed it under the seat.
The listed female suspect was then asked if she would provide a breath sample via PBT due to the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath, glossy eyes, and being unsteady on her feet and she stated yes, at which time she blew a 0.083 on the PBT.
At this time, the driver was asked if he would provide a breath sample via PBT and he stated no but that he would complete Standardized Field Sobriety Testing at which time testing was completed. After testing it was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol and implied consent was read for blood and he refused.
At this time both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the jail. The pistol was taken and placed into evidence locker #3 for safekeeping.
