On the listed date and time. I was assigned a child abuse case to investigate. The information referenced in the case was provided to me in a referral from the Department of family and children services DFCS. I contacted DFCS by phone to inquire about the case. And the listed DFCS employe, was able to email photographs of the two victims that were taken by the listed reporting party, and also images that were taken by the employee on the previous date. These images showed significant bruising on the back, buttocks and legs of the listed victims.
The victims are currently staying with the listed reporting party as they are relative and the victims are visiting with them for the week out-of-state. Based on the significant marks in the images. I responded to the incident location with the DFCS employee to interview the listed suspects. The employee began speaking with the suspect first, and suspect number one admitted to the employee that he struck the children with a belt.
During the home inspection that the employee is required to do per policy, I accompanied her and noticed in the victim’s bedroom was an unbelievable amount of human feces on the walls and floor. There were significantly large holes in the wall and no furniture in the room other than one mattress and one blanket that was also covered in human feces. The windows were boarded-up and there was a baby gate on the hallway side of the entrance to the room. The pictures do not capture the horrid stench inside the residence.
Both suspects were asked to come to the Sheriff’s office for an interview. Suspect number one admitted to striking the children three times with a belt. Suspect number two was present for the assault and did not report the abuse. The condition of the room shows significant neglect to the children’s well-being. The amount of feces in the room was extremely harmful to the health and wellness of the children. Both suspects were taken into custody.
