[NARRATIVE #1 on July 30, 2026]

On 07/30/2026 at 19:24 hours I, Patrolman Craig was dispatched to [700 BLOCK] McLemore St in reference to a 911 Hang Up but while en route Walker County Dispatch advised me that the listed complainant stated his girlfriend had assaulted him.

I arrived on scene and spoke with listed offender (Kerri Carrington) about the incident while Sgt. Hunt spoke with listed complainant (Joshua McDowell). Kerri stated that her and Joshua got into an argument because she discovered he had cheated on her and when she confronted Joshua about it, he had hit her and “busted” her in the mouth. I observed a red mark on Kerri’s right cheek, and she also stated he busted her lip but after observing her bottom lip I didn’t observe any redness or broken skin on her bottom lip. I also didn’t observe any red marks or abrasions to Kerri’s hands to indicate any alleged physical altercation with Joshua.

She stated she had video cameras on the property and probably captured the altercation and I asked Kerri if she could show the video footage to me, so she walked back inside the residence to gather her phone and when she came back outside to my location, she stated Joshua had the phone that had the video footage. So, I went to Sgt. Hunt’s location and gathered the phone and after giving Kerri the phone back she showed me a video of the camera only showing a view of the parked car in the driveway but not of the altercation.

I went back to my patrol car to gather a witness/victim statement paperwork for Kerri to fill out and on my way back to the incident location Sgt. Hunt and I talked to compare the stories from both parties. We discovered that both parties were stating the other assaulted the other and we both agreed that we would charge both parties with Disorderly Conduct because they were both being loud and arguing in public and it would help defuse the situation. After coming back to Kerri’s location, I advised her to fill out the paperwork if she wanted to, but Kerri declined to do so. While I was with Kerri, Sgt. Hunt walked to [700 BLOCK] McLemore St to talk to the listed witness [WITNESS #1].

After Sgt. Hunt talked to the listed witness, I placed Kerri into handcuffs and advised her she was under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. I then doubled locked and checked the handcuffs for fit. Before placing Kerri into my patrol car, I assisted her with placing her orange cat back into her residence and I then assisted Kerri in gathering her house key and lock to her residence and then locked up her residence with the lock. And while walking Kerri to my patrol car I assisted her in retrieving the car key out of the ignition of the car.

I placed Kerri into the rear of my patrol and transported her to the Walker County Jail and turned her over to jail staff with no issue. I checked the rear of my patrol car for contraband, and none was found. I advised Walker County Dispatch of my starting mileage prior to transporting Kerri Carrington to Walker County Jail.

Kerri Carrington issued a Citation for Disorderly Conduct (130003539). And Joshua McDowell also issued a Citation for Disorderly Conduct (130003540). Both parties was given the violator’s copy of the citation. Pictures were captured of Kerri’s markings and will be attached to the report. My body worn camera was active during the call and transport of Kerri Carrington to Walker County Jail.

[NARRATIVE #2 on July 30, 2026]

On 07-30-2026 at approximately 19:24 hours, I Sergeant Hunt responded with Officer Craig to a 911 hang-up at [700 BLOCK] Mclemore Street, that was observed to have been heard someone yelling and cursing at someone else. Walker County Dispatch advised while both units were enroute to the call that the caller, listed complainant/offender (Joshua McDowell) was contacted and advised his girlfriend, listed offender (Kerri Carrington) had hit him multiple times.

Officer Craig and I arrived on scene and located Joshua squatting in the roadway and Kerri appeared to walk out of the residence and was yelling at Joshua. I went to speak with Joshua about the incident and Officer Craig spoke with Kerri to get her side of the events. Joshua advised He and Kerri were supposed to go shopping for groceries as he returned from work. Joshua and Kerri left to go get the groceries, and Joshua stated Kerri began arguing with him about cheating and they returned back to the residence.

Joshua advised he and Kerri were arguing back and forth and when Joshua stepped away Kerri began striking him in the head. There were no visible or marks on Joshua that was observed or noted. I observed Kerri had a clearly visible marks on the right side of her face. Joshua began stating that Kerri did that to herself and Kerri kept stating that Joshua was the one that hit her. Both would continue to state the other hit the other.

While trying to get Joshua to explain the situation he would talk indirectly to me about the situation and direct his responses to Kerri. I moved Joshua to my patrol vehicle to have him complete a statement as he and Kerri continued to argue with each other and claim the other was at fault for the incident. Joshua would state there was video of the incident, and it was on the phone and Kerri had access to the account for the videos.

When Kerri was told to provide the camera footage of the incident, she was reluctant to provide the camera footage and showed Officer Craig a camera angle that only covered just past the driveway. Due to a prior incident, I was already familiar that Kerri had additional camera angles as she assisted in a suspicious person’s call and observed the camera covered portions of the street. Kerri ultimately did not provide the camera angle and tried to argue with Joshua as if she was trying to get Joshua to squash the issue by stating she would show Officers the video of the incident.

Joshua would argue with Kerri when asked to provide a witness statement of the events and asked Kerri if that was what she wanted him to really do. I advised Joshua to focus on the statement and provide accounts of events. Joshua stated he spoke to a nearby person, listed witness [WITNESS #1] about the incident. Joshua stated that [WITNESS #1] only heard the interaction and did not witness or see anything occurring.

Officer Craig and I stepped away to discuss the testimony provided by Joshua and Kerri of the incident. I advised Officer Craig that based on the way both were interacting with each other that if they were to separate for the evening, they would return back and the situation could escalate further, and both living at the same address it was not ideal to leave both parties as is. During my discussion with Officer Craig, Joshua and Kerri were still arguing with each other. Officer Craig went to his patrol vehicle to retrieve paperwork. I stepped over to [700 BLOCK] Mclemore Street to speak with [WITNESS #1].

[WITNESS #1] advised she did not want to get involved in Joshua’s and Kerri’s situation, however stated that she heard the arguing and observed “someone” who was yelling and being aggressive shove the other. Based on [WITNESS #1]’s information and the totality of the circumstance of Joshua and Kerri arguing in a public setting and creating a disturbance which drew attention to their disturbance.

Both alleged the other was physical with the other and Kerri had marks on her face and Kerri is alleged to have struck Joshua in the head. Kerri did not deny hitting Joshua during the investigation and only claimed that the incident took place in front of additional witnesses that were no longer on scene. Kerri did not provide a name of the person(s) just called them Joshua’s buddies.

I advised Officer Craig to go ahead and placed Kerri in custody, and I placed Joshua in custody. Joshua was placed into handcuffs behind the back. The handcuffs were checked for fit and double locked to prevent tightening. Joshua was checked for weapons and contraband. Joshua was found with a pocketknife which was removed from his person. No contraband was found, and Joshua was placed into the rear of my patrol vehicle.

Joshua was transported to Walker County Detention without issue. Joshua was turned over to and accepted by Walker County Detention staff. Joshua and Kerri were charged with Disorderly Conduct 15-4.

[NARRATIVE #3 on July 30, 2026]

On 07/30/2026 at approximately 2130 hours, I, Staff Sergeant Houser, responded to the Walker County Jail in reference to completing bond paperwork for Joshua McDowell and Kerri Carrington.

Upon arrival, I completed the bond paperwork for both subjects. The bond was signed by [REDACTED] from Roy’s Bonding Company. All parties were provided a copy that contained all relevant information along with the court date of 09/21/2026.
