On Monday 08/03/2026 at 2308 hours I was dispatched to the listed address in reference to an accident.
I arrived on scene and met with the listed other who stated that the suspect was over in his lane of travel and struck the front driver’s side of his vehicle. The other said that he was not injured. I walked over to where the suspect’s vehicle stopped. The vehicle was in a driveway missing the front driver’s side wheel. The suspect was still sitting in the driver’s seat.
The suspects vehicle had the smell of alcohol inside it and the driver admitted to drinking a few beers earlier in the day. There were two open containers in the suspect’s vehicle. One empty beer bottle 16 fl. Oz. And a pink cup with a brown liquid in it that smelled like alcohol. Photographs were taken of the open containers and the beer bottle was taken as evidence.
The suspect was given a portable breath test which had a positive result for alcohol. The suspect was asked to perform standard field sobriety testing which he agreed too. The suspect was only able to completed the eye test because of bad hips and needing assistance to walk. The suspect showed nystagmus in both eyes during each of the tests.
I read the suspect the implied consent statement and the suspect agreed to having his blood tested. The suspect was taken into custody and walked to the back of my patrol vehicle where I searched the back of my patrol vehicle for weapons and contraband with none found. The suspect was searched for weapons and contraband with none found and placed on the back seat with a seat belt. Durham’s towing was on scene to pickup both vehicles. I completed a tow sheet for the suspect vehicle and the owner requested Durham’s to recover his vehicle.
I notified dispatch that implied consent had been read and the suspect was in custody. I also notified dispatch that Durham’s had the vehicles and I was transporting the suspect to the jail. At the jail the suspect refused to submit to a blood draw. I completed the department of driver’s services form for notification of drivers license suspension and had the suspect sign it.
I completed all required paperwork to place the open container into evidence. The container was placed in evidence locker number 3. I notified dispatch that I was back in service.
