On May 1, 2026, I, Sgt. Robertson was on Lacy Street patrolling the area when a vehicle turned onto Lacy Street from Pine Park Street. The vehicle was traveling in the wrong lane with bright lights on. The vehicle continued to travel in the wrong lane coming directly towards my patrol unit as I was traveling on Lacy Street towards Pine Park Street. I flashed my high beams at the vehicle and applied my brakes so that the vehicle did not hit me head on. The vehicle finally got into the correct lane of travel.
I continued to observe the vehicle in my driver side mirror. The vehicle crossed over int the wrong lane of travel again. I then turned my patrol unit around and activated my emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle made a right turn onto Harris street from Lacy Street. I made contact with the vehicle on Harris Street at Mongolia street, It went into Magnolia the vehicle failed to stop until it pulled into a driveway of one of the apartments.
I made contact with the driver as he was opening the door of the vehicle to exit. Once I made contact I could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. I noticed that his eyes were bloodshot. I advised the driver that he almost hit me head on on Lacy Street and he stated that he was just trying to get home.
The drivers information was checked through mobile data terminal and he showed to have a suspended license for child support. The traffic stop was turned over to Officer Robertson #371 for DUI investigation. Officer Robertson performed roadside evaluations on the subject (SFST), when Officer Robertson was done with the (SFST) he placed the driver under arrest for DUI and transported to the Monroe Police Department for state administered breath test.
The vehicle was stopped by me Sgt. Robertson for failure to maintain lane and failure to dim head lights. The stop was turned over to Officer Robertson for suspicion of DUI.
