On Monday February 17, 2024 at 21:59 pm units were dispatched to [800 BLOCK] Rayonier Rd in reference to harassing communications.

Prior to being dispatched the caller, Jeremy Prater, called 911 dispatch 6 times asking to talk to Deputy Davis and Sgt Jones.

Prater kept calling after begin told several times something would be done about the situation he was calling about.

When units arrived on scene Prater showed me a text messaged from a [REDACTED] that stated that he knew where Prater lived. Prater wanted to report this as a threat. I asked to see Prater’s phone and I read the entire text thread. The thread was about the sale of a watch. Before the text from the other [REDACTED], Prater made threatening texts. I explained to Prater that the response was to his threats and that it was not a crime. Prater was not happy with my response and tried to argue with me.

Prater had blood shot eyes, slurred speech, had trouble maintaining his balance, and had a very strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Prater appeared to be intoxicated.

After advising Prater there was nothing I could do about the threats, I advised Prater that he was not to contact 911 unless he had a valid emergency. I told Prater if he contacted 911 again and there was no emergency he would face charges. Prater became upset and began to cuss at deputies and told us to get off his property.

Prater contacted 911 an additional 5 times after that conversation. Sgt Jones contacted me and asked if I told Prater if he would go to jail if he contacted 911 again. I stated yes. While in route to Prater’s home Sgt Jones arrived on scene before me. When I arrived Sgt Jones and Prater were talking in the front yard. I approached Prater and told him to place his hands behind his back and I placed him under arrest.

I was going to transport Prater to the jail and do a cite and release due to short man power and Prater’s extensive medical history. While in route to the jail, Dep Davis advised me he talked to the jail and that we were not going to be able to do that and a warrant would be needed. I advised Sgt Jones and we determined I would release Prater to his mother and secure warrants later.

When I arrived at Prater’s home, while getting him out of the back of the patrol vehicle, Prater stated “Do you want this, cause I’ll give it to you.” While attempting to take the cuffs of Prater began to yell and tense his body. He stated “Take them off boy” and began to scream some more and took a fighting stance. At this time I called for another units. Over the radio Sgt Jones advised me to just take him to jail.

While in route back to the jail Prater continued to use abusive and threating language. Making comments like You messed with the wrong one. If I see you in Jesup its over for you.

When I arrived at the jail, Prater made the comment he hopes I am standing next to him when the cuffs come off. While walking to the search room door, Prater stepped on a metal bunk bed and fell into the wall. This was recorded by the jail camera system.

I transferred custody to jail staff for booking and applied for warrants.
