Man arrested after causing disturbance at Dalton Waffle House

DALTON – A Dalton man was arrested shortly after midnight on March 30 for causing a disturbance at the Waffle House on W Walnut.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed Stephen Matthew Jenkins, born 1988, on his hands and knees in the rear parking lot. When Jenkins spotted the officers, he tried crawling away. Officers were able to stop him from feeling.

Jenkins admitted to drinking “Four Loko” and “knows he had others”. A portable breathalyzer measured the man’s BAC at .284, over three times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle.

Jenkins was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

On 3-30-2021 I self-dispatched to 1531 W Walnut for a subject causing a disturbance at the Waffle House. I arrived on scene and started to look for the subject.

As I was walking around the back side of the Waffle House I observed a subject matching the description on his hands and knees on the other side of the wall. I made contact with the subject later identified as Stephen Jenkins.

Jenkins looked up at me and said “o shit” then started to try and crawl faster away. I stopped him. Jenkins stated he had drunk a lot and did not remember causing a disturbance. Jenkins said he remembered drinking four loco alcoholic beverages and knows he had others.

I had Jenkins provide a breath sample on my portable breathalyzer. Jenkins had a reading of .284 blood alcohol content. Officer Mefford had talked with employees of the Waffle House. He told me they stated he was yelling, cursing, and trying to fight with people. They want him banned from the property. Jenkins was told and said he understood.

I arrested Jenkins and transported him to whitfield county jail to be booked on public drunkenness and disorderly conduct using warrantless arrest form 63864.

Officer O’Neal 614.
