Pair arrested for concealing items at Dalton Walmart, attempting to return them

DALTON – The following incident report was filed by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office regarding the arrests of James Brayden Blevins and Stephanie Catherine Barbarello on August 17 on a charge of misdemeanor shoplifting.

On 17 Aug 2020 Deputy Figg was dispatched to 2545 E. Walnut Ave., Walmart, in reference to a shoplifting in progress.

While in route dispatch was advising there was a male, James Blevins, and a female, Stephanie Barbarello, who were together, the male [was] now at the Customer Service returning stolen property. Upon arrival Deputy Figg made contact with [LP OFFICER], Loss Prevention, who stated the following.

[LP OFFICER] stated James and Stephanie were observed taking items and concealing them. James then went to Customer Service and began returning stolen items. Deputy Figg and [LP OFFICER] made contact with James and Stephanie escorting them to the Loss Prevention office.

At the office [LP OFFICER] discovered that James has been banned from all Walmart properties as he has been charged with shoplifting from Walmart earlier this year. Deputy Figg took James and Stephanie into custody transporting them to the Whitfield County Jail without incident.

At the Jail on Magistrate Citation number MC 00081 Stephanie was charged with Shoplifting, 16-8-14. On Magistrate Citation number MC 0082 James was charged with Criminal Trespass and Shoplifting.

Both James and Stephanie were turned over to booking personal.
