On 1/31/2025 myself and Officer O’Neal were dispatched to 400 S Thornton Ave in regards to a physical domestic in progress that was taking place behind the Daily Citizen news building. There were 2 calls in regards to this incident both described witnessing the male (Dalton Rogers) striking the victim [VICTIM #1].

When I arrived Officer O’Neal and Lt Woods were already on scene. O’Neal had Dalton detained in handcuffs while Lt Woods spoke with the victim. I then took over for Lt Woods and began to obtain [VICTIM #1]’s story. She stated that the incident began at Crescent City Tavern when her and her boyfriend began to argue about leaving the establishment. She stated that they left and were arguing so she puts the car in park at the “Red Flashing Light” which later was believed to be Pentz Street. She put the car in park and began to get out she stated that at this time Dalton got out of the car and proceeded to grab her by the hood of her shirt and forcefully put her into the passenger seat. Dalton then drove to the daily citizen building. [VICTIM #1] stated that while he was driving he pulled the gun that was between the driver door and the driver seat and put the gun to her head. She stated that while they were arguing Dalton punched the rear view mirror causing it to break.

[VICTIM #1] stated that when they arrived to the building he told her that if she didn’t shut up that he was going to run them into the building. Dalton then proceeded to speed towards the building and stop just before impact. One of the callers witnessed the erratic driving and asked if they were okay. [VICTIM #1] stated that Dalton told the male that he would “fu*k you up if you don’t get out of here”. Dalton then drove around to the back of the parking lot and put the vehicle in park. At this point Dalton began to punch the rear view mirror of the 2010 Chevorlet Camero causing the mirror to break and the frame break off as well. At this time [VICTIM #1] stated that she got out of the vehicle and tried to run and get away. [VICTIM #1] stated that as she was running that Dalton proceeded to chase her, grab her by her hair, and drag her back to the vehicle. He then began to punch and kick her in the face and in the ribs causing bleeding to the face. From the 911 call you are able to hear [VICTIM #1] screaming in pain as Dalton continues to strike her. At this point officers showed up on scene and saw Dalton hovering over [VICTIM #1] but did not see him actually strike her at this time.

I then spoke to Dalton. He stated that they were leaving the bar [VICTIM #1] got out of the car and was stripping her cloths off, Dalton stated that he got her back in the car and then continued driving. He stated that [VICTIM #1] then punched him in the face. But there were no visible marks on Dalton at this time. He stated that he did not strike her at all, nor did he pull the gun on her. Dalton stated that [VICTIM #1] reached for the gun and he took it from her. He did not say what had happened to [VICTIM #1], and why she was bleeding.

I will be following up with the callers to obtain more information.

Officer O’Neal then transported Dalton to the Whitfield County jail where he was charged with battery for hitting [VICTIM #1] and causing visible damage at this time, aggravated assault for pulling a gun and pointing it at her, and criminal damage to property due to the damages to the interior to the vehicle. This was filled out on warrantless arrest form #66361

On 2/1/2024 I spoke with one of the witnesses [WITNESS #1]. He stated that he was in his bedroom when he heard a female screaming for help. [WITNESS #1] stated that he then went outside to his back poarch and witnessed Dalton punch and kick [VICTIM #1] miltiple times as he was on the phone with 911.
