On December 22, 2024 at approximately 2332 hours Deputy Sharp was dispatched to 2809 Chattanooga Rd due to EMS requesting the Sheriff’s Office on scene. Upon Arrival, Deputy Sharp met with [VICTIM #1] who provided the following information through a translator provided by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office booking staff due to a language barrier.

[VICTIM #1] stated his vehicle had stopped working properly and he was attempting to fix it. He advised that man approached him and asked if he needed any help. He stated the male proceeded to grab his genitals. [VICTIM #1] stated he grab a screw driver in self defense and the male had backed off. He advised the male was driving a white or cream color van. He advised it was a white male who was obese.

[VICTIM #1] stated as EMS was checking on him the male walked back into the store. EMS stated when [VICTIM #1] saw the male he began to panic as if he was scared. They advised the male then left the Mapco. EMS stated as the male left he made sexual gestures with his tongue.

Deputy Sharp concluding his investigation but would later return to 2809 Chattanooga Rd on December 23, 2024 around the hours of 0108 hours due to a worker at the Mapco stating the van was back on scene.

Upon Arrival, Deputy Sharp had the driver of the van step out of the vehicle. Deputy Sharp observed that the driver did not match the description of the offender who was at this location earlier this date. Deputy Sharp asked the man, who else was driving the vehicle earlier tonight. The male stated that Joey Bridges drove to the Mapco earlier this date. Deputy Sharp asked where was Joey currently at and the male advised he was at [100 BLOCK] Fields Rd.

Upon Arrival at [100 BLOCK] Fields Rd, Deputy Sharp made contact with Joey who provided the following information. Upon Meeting with Joey Deputy Sharp read Joey his Miranda Rights. Joey stated he understood his rights and was willing to answer questions. Deputy Sharp observed Joey was a heavy-set man with brown hair. Joey was wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue sweatpants.

Joey stated that he assisted the Hispanic male [VICTIM #1] at the Mapco with his vehicle. He advised when he was done assisting with the vehicle left the man. He advised nothing happened between the man and himself. Deputy Sharp questioned him once again asking if we are to pull the video camera footage from the Mapco, would he see Joey touch the man’s genitals. He advised that he had no physical contact with that male. Deputy Sharp asked Joey if they male would identify Joey as the offender and he stated yes but could not provide a reason why. After further questioning, Joey later admitted to accidentally touching the man’s genitals with the back of his hand. He advised it was an accident and did not intentionally grab the man’s genitals.

Deputy Sharp placed Joey under arrest at this time and transported him to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office booking. Upon Arrival, Deputy Sharp charged 16-6-22.1 Sexual Batter on warrantless arrest #69023. Deputy Sharp concluded that Joey was involved in an incident on report #202407421. Deputy Sharp questioned Joey before the time of arrest, due to him fitting the description involved in said incident.
