On 04/26/2023, Ms. Leming had utilized her cell phone to set up a drug transaction. It was also noted that Ms. Leming did have an active warrant for her arrest. Ms. Leming was observed walking north on Claude Street toward Murray Avenue. Ms. Leming was walking with a black male, and as Detective Caraway advised that he was law enforcement and for Ms. Leming to stop, she began to run away from Det. Caraway.

Det. Caraway was able to catch Ms. Leming in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store at the corner of Claude Street and Murray Avenue. Lt. Lowery assisted with taking Ms. Leming into custody and she was handcuffed. Detective Caraway walked back up the street to recover Ms. Leming’s purse and Ms. Leming threw her flip flops off and began running north again.

Ms. Leming was handcuffed and running away from law enforcement, running north across Murray Avenue. Lt. Lowery was able to catch up with Ms. Leming across the street and she was once again escorted back to the Family Dollar parking lot and into a patrol vehicle.

Detective Murray with Dalton Police Department was assisting and spoke with Mr. Kincaid during this incident. Mr. Kincaid gave consent to search his person and Det. Murray located a glass methamphetamine pipe and 0.9 grams of methamphetamine on his person.

Ms. Leming was in possession of more than 28 grams of methamphetamine which did field test positive. Ms. Leming also had a white powder which did field test positive for Fentanyl. There was a silver set of digital scales and methamphetamine pipe located inside her purse. During the disrobe search of Ms. Leming, a silver cylinder container was located on her person and it did contain methamphetamine as well.

Ms. Leming was charged with Possession of meth, use of communication facilities in drug transactions, obstruction of law enforcement officer – 2 counts, Possession of schedule 2, Possession with intent to distribute, trafficking in methamphetamine, tools for the commission of the crime, and possession of drug related items on Warrantless Arrest # 67235.

Mr. Kincaid was charged with Possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects on warrantless arrest #67236.
